我选了B,答案是C,该句中more than 究竟怎么用.

2.Andy Warhol is known for attempt to ridicule and to celebrate values by erasing the distinction between popular and high culture.

我选了C,答案是B,attempt改为attempting?但attempt 也可作名词.

3.Affirmative Action,an equal opportunity employment program in the United States,has long been the subject of disgreement over          the racial imbalance in the Ameriac workplace.

A.either the elimination

B.eliminating

C.how to eliminate

D.if eliminate

我觉得B.C都对,但答案是B,是否从意思上去判断,这好象比光从句子结构上判断更难,还是有其他原因.

前面两题,我选和你一样.

题1 的 double 是作动词讲吧?

题 2 更难, 从并列结构来说, 不论attempt 还是 attempting 和to celebrate 都不对称.

3 题从整句意思上来讲B 更合理.

第一眼看到时，觉得用attempting to ridicule and to celebrate......也是可以的，

可看了Taurus（见下面的贴子）的解释，顿感改为名词形式会好一些，因为此处如果是用动词形式的话，原题就应为：be known to do sth，

而be kown for +sth.

正如 Futuremba MM 所言，此题好像除了逻辑意义上的区别外，不太好找其它理由来区分B,C.

郁闷！！

more 除了自己可以作名词以外,  再就是修饰形容词或副词 以表示"比较级".

这里double 是动词. 不可以用more 来修饰.

"more than double"  翻了两番还多..

没有什么好特别解释的,  就是这种说法.  记住就是了.

当然这里double 也可以换成其他表示倍数的词, 比如triple, 视具体情况而选词.

它是可以做名词, 但它做名词是可数的.  所以按照惯例,  可数名词不能单独存在.  怎么也得改成attempts 才行.  

因此B怎么都是错的.

这道题需要从语意上判断.

这里的disagreement 不是在于"如何消除工作上职员种族比例不均衡"的分歧,  而是"是否消除这种不均衡"的分歧..

也就是说, B 和C 的意思是不同的.

Affirmative Action 的支持者们认为通过要求各工作岗位上保持相当的种族比例 可以消除聘用职工时的种族歧视问题.  反对者认为没有必要去eliminate the racial imbalance in workplace.  聘用职工是根据应聘者的能力来决定, 不该搀杂种族方面的考虑, 设立这种硬性的种族比例指标是stupid 的.

hehe, "more than doubled" 又碰到你了，这个在GMAT里就有，看来是ETS的Favourit了，我们只有记住就行了，此外还有一个奇怪的形式也常考：

In the 1980’s the rate of increase of the minority population of the United States was nearly twice what it was in the 1970’s.

第3题，我认为应该是要从意思上区分的，此外可能也是disagree over 后面只能用名词，不能用从句，的缘故吧
