Opinion 1:
这里不是为了平行，理由有三：
1. 如果从平行的角度出发考虑，那么瞬间只有一个C选项，本题会变得没有意义。
2. manhattan的官方解释并没有提到这一个筛选角度。
3. manhattan的论坛也有关于这个题目的讨论(http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/zoo-s-lions-t4096.html). 最后一个帖子里面tim的回复，推断他的意思应该是“想说并不是动词形式的平行，而是一整个短语的平行"，也就是考虑的不是rather than后面用了confining，主句就要用进行时或者不定式
4. rather than可以做连词也可以做介词，做介词的时候相当于instead of，后面跟动作必须是动名词。所以用confining是本就应该的，而本题考查的真实意图是逻辑主语。
综上，我们不应该从confining出发，要去找一个相同结构的主句动词。

但是Opinion 2并没有说到主句没用doing，rather than后面就不能用doing。
因为做题的意义在于讨论思路，所以这一点就留给大家自己取舍吧。
另外，毛毛和aeo的意见是Opinion 1。

2，关于 “that it specially designed……”it是否多余的问题，指代什么，it是否应该是it的问题。
“housing 与confining平行，且逻辑主语正确，这里疑问是that后面引导定从，谓语应该有啊，所以这里it指代的是zoo？若是指代environment应该用被动 it is specially designed 吧？可是指代zoo的话，前面时态是现在时，这里是过去时，不太一致，从总体的大平行上感觉是C，可还是不太确定，求指导求讨论”-- UlysessHope

并不多余，主从对位指代主句主语zoo很清晰。有同学可能会疑问为何先行词在定语从句中坐宾语还要补出关系代词that。其实that是否补出并不是决定性错误，而且本句that补出让句子结构更为清晰；也就是说，当that补出让句子结构更为清晰时，即便先行词在定从中做宾语，依然要补出that。

3， “E中in a special environment是介宾短语，我觉得前面加上逗号比较好=》这条我不太确定，但是觉得不好，待完善。。。
好像大家都把B排除了，which的跳跃指代不可以吗？难道我又2了。。。”——geniealice
(1)house sth. in somewhere...in somewhere前面如果加了逗号就变成非限定性修饰，也就暗示了“读者知道somewhere是哪里”，但是这句话中somewhere是一个新信息，所以应该用限定性修饰，前面不能加逗号。
(2)首先这里是in which而不是which哦，如果是which通常就不能用在这样的限定性结构了， in which的跳跃指代是可以的。把B排除其实是比较出来的，C比B好一些。

4，“B中的这个designed出现的很奇怪，不一定就是动物园设计的吧，而且这样会让句意的中心变成动物园设计笼子，但是其实的中心应该是狮子住在这个笼子里吧”--听枫
其实就是动物园设计的……机构的名字可以代表机构里面的人员哦。

做题小Tips：
见到“现在分词”或“介词(短语)+现在分词”做为前缀短语，务必要想到逻辑主语，并将其作为第一着手点，先来排山倒海它几个选项。

B和C中，偶选C

楼下战友说B不平行所以错，偶不大同意，rather than后边跟了ing是因为than的原因，主句谓语动词并不一定要ing。偶是觉得in which似乎和后边的描述重复了。

感觉相比之下C是较好的答案，虽然我还有疑问。

A中 confining的逻辑主语是zoo不是 the zoo's lions
B中逻辑主语正确，designed 与confining不平行， a mimic of their natural habitat不如 to mimic their natural habitat简洁
C中 housing 与confining平行，且逻辑主语正确，这里疑问是that后面引导定从，谓语应该有啊，所以这里it指代的是zoo？若是指代environment应该用被动 it is specially designed 吧？可是指代zoo的话，前面时态是现在时，这里是过去时，不太一致，从总体的大平行上感觉是C，可还是不太确定，求指导求讨论

1.confining的逻辑主语应该是zoo，不是zoo's lions。排除A、D。
2.B中的in a mimic of their natural habitat让句子显得啰嗦.我觉得the zoo designed a special environment ...in which the animals currently live 已经把话说完了，in是介词所以提前，不应该后面再加in blah blah...所以排除。
3.E中指代有问题，第一个their不能指代zoo，因为zoo是单数名词。

所以选C，逻辑搭配正确，代词指代也正确。

考点：代词，修饰，主谓搭配

一看confining the animals to cages, 就知道主语应该是zoo(毛毛姐把tocages连写了使我纠结了一秒哈哈)
所以A、D排除了。
A还有问题就是it指代不清，主语是the zoo's lions，不能用it直接指代the zoo，因为它不是主语，记得上一期悬赏令有个题目和这里相似。
然后
B 表述很奇怪，redundant，in which the animals currently live in a mimic of their natural habitat表达不清。
C 指代清晰，specially designed语意符合
E E本来也觉得看起来挺顺的，但是their lions的their错了，special的位置也变了，变成修饰environment特殊的环境？改变了原意。
