In this argument, I would present my opinions on the issue indetails.

On the one hand, I agree with the author that the business decisionmade by a powerful business leader may directly affect the course of acommunity or a nation. As well known, business and communities are becomingincreasingly mutually interactive as the development of modern society. Forexample, the environmental protection strategy of a business leader also has alarge impact on a community. Medium or small companies tend to follow theenvironment protection practice of a leading company to save consultancy cost.In this case, a powerful leader who encourages environment protection wouldhave a much larger positive effect than he/she may expect.

In addition, the personal characteristic of a powerful businessleader also have a large effect on the every day life of a community or anation. Mass media likes to interview successful business leaders and promotethose success stories to boost circulation. The key characters or practice advertisedby those media encourage readers, who also have a desire for success, tocultivate those characters or practice. For example, when success of WarrantBuffet on stock selection has encourage many amateur investors to study fundamentalanalysis and make investment in a long time frame instead of arbitraging.

On the other hand, realizing that a more rational and accuratejudgment should incorporate aspects of the issue as adequately as possible; Ihave to point out that the author overstate the importance of a businessleader. Although a powerful business leader may affect the economy or dailylife of a community, there are other fields a business leader may have little effect.Those fields include law issues, political issues, and educational issues. Onthe contrary, government officials, who are experts in those fields, have muchmore opportunities to make a national wide decision.

In sum, the issue of whether business leaders or governmentofficials are more influential is controversial and complex. So different arepeople’s perspective, personal experience and background that different peoplemay have different answer to the question. Therefore, answers to the questionmay be drawn in a subjective way instead of a objective way. As far as I amconcerned, I think both business leaders and government officials have aneffect on the course of a community or a nation.
