请教一个关于可数/不可数的问题

the point is moot, as (e) is the only answer choice whose parallelism is anywhere close to correct. the first part of the parallel structure refers to vehicles; (e) is the only choice in which the second part likewise refers to vehicles.

首先用排除法，就可以排除ABCD. 因为ABCD中，被比较的部分没有对应的名词，与‘Vehicles'比较。

再说可数/与不可数的问题。Fewer of certain pollutants 和 less of certain pollutants 有不同的意思。

Fewer of certain pollutants指，如果certain pollutants是一个大集合，里面包括一氧化碳、二氧化碳等等各种气体。那么fewer的意思就是，与’certain pollutants‘比起来，它包含了较少的污染物。比如，如果说“those burning gasoline or diesel fuel”要排放二氧化碳、一氧化碳等等5种气体，那么‘ vehicles powered by natural gas’就只排放二氧化碳一种气体。

Less of certain pollutants是指，他们都排放certain pollutants，但是一个排放300ML,一个排放500ML。在排放的quantities上面，一个比另一个低。那么这样就是不可数的了。

逻辑意思上，一般还是会取less of certain pollutants吧。

所以我觉得做这种题，应该先看grammatical mistakes，这个是硬标准。排除完毕后，再来比较逻辑语义。
