前半句结构比较清楚就不说了。
我们来看看后半句，如果把省略的部分补充完整后变成：

the discoveries which he did make were more important than the route to Asia which he expected to find.

其中he did make作为discoveries的定语；he expected to find作为Asia的定语；而真正的谓语是“were”。

把句子简化一下，结构就更明显了：

the discoveries were more important than the route to Asia.
