Do I need to take these courses in order to apply to MBA program?

Many B-schools seem to strongly encourage applicants to have had intro-level accounting, econ, finance and statistics. I never have these courses and was wondering if it is helpful to take them.

some MBAs told me that it is not that important, compared to GPA, GMAT, essay, recommendations. Do you think I could show the schools that I learn those stuff by myself or by going to some workshop?

Don't think it's necessary to take those course just for application purpose. However, if your academic record history is not so good (i.e, low GPA), then you'd better take some course to compensate that.
