应该是独立主格。同位语和独立主格的区别如下：

同位格片語 (Appositive Phrase)

同位格片語係它前面緊鄰的一個字的補充、說明和舖陳。我們通常使用另一種片語來做為同位格片語。

My favorite teacher, a fine chess player in her own right, has won several state-level tournaments. [名詞片語當同位格片語]
The best exercise, walking briskly, is also the least expensive. [動名詞片語當同位格片語]

獨立片語 (Absolute Phrase)

独立主格本来就不需要连接词。

A：accounts主谓一致错；run-on sentence

B：were what accounted for不简洁；semicolon后面不是一个独立的句子

C：正确

D：sentence fragment

E：sentence fragment；it指代不清

C 一般过去时accounted正确对应last year, 且不存在单复数不一致；the remainder 引导独立主格结构：名词+ ing形式，而且还保持了原文的重心是increases in the sales of the 50 drugs

选D必错！but表示转折，also表示递进，选D的同志是受了中文的影响，因为我们经常说话可以说但……也……，这种表达方法在英语这么严密的语言里肯定是错的！
