A person's childhood years (the time from birth to twelve years of age) are the most important years of a person's life. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Thanks to the innovation science brings about and the satisfying living standard peolple have achieved, it is manifest that there is no way around the fact that human activities have made the erath a better place to live. However, contray to the opinion that many people share is my heartfelt agreement to the viewpoint that the earth is being harmed by human activities. As the old saying goes: every coin has two side; although it is undeniable that human activities have contributed a lot to people in almost all aspects of daily live like health service, food provision, transportation, entertainment and so on, we should still be aware of the pollution it causes to the environment. Owing to the inproper way of dealing with nature, a variety of natural resources such as air, water, and even crops and fruits we eat are polluted or being polluted. A particularly notable case is that last year the water from Tai Lake in Jiangsu Province, China, gave off awful smell and was no longer drinkable. The situation seriously affect the residents there. And the disaster resulted from the oversue of chemical ingredients by the factories near by and the directly pouring of dirty water to the lake. So, to some extent these factories were making money at the cost of the destruction of the nature. Such example is too numerous to list. What's more, we should also attach great significance to the fact that wonderful as the develpoment of science and technology appears to be, they meanwhile, in a sense, has deprived human beings of numerous properties given by nature. The widely-spread poplarity of wearing feathers from some rare animals makes these species almost extinct. Also too much devastating of the forests to obtain woods in the name of developing the areas people live leads to the runoff of soil and brings about floods. In addition, large amount of wetland is disappearing and instead, a lot of skyscrapers are growing up in the home of these precious landform. So it would therefore not be too great an exaggeration to say that if we continue conducting these activities, we will end up in extinction with all those plants and animals. By the way, the breakthough in science does harms to human beings as well. People are getting lazier and lazier when they are able to perchase goods on the internet without going out for shopping or use cars instead of walking. It will absolutely make people not strong enough to defeat some newly emerging disease. The detriment to human race, the owener of earth, in a way, also indicates that earth is no longer as perfect a planet as it used to be. So in conclusion, considerable as the advantages that human activitiy makes life faster and more convenient are, we cannot afford the unbalance of ecology. So the best way to solve this problem is to wisely arrange the exploit of natural resources and to invest much energy in protecting the enviroment. Word Count: 496 |
