模考 SC一道比较题求解惑

模考这道题错了，不是很懂为什么错了，请解答：

Only 7 people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies - less than those killed by bee stings.

A. movies - less than those
B. movies - fewer than have been
C. movies, which is less than those
D. movies, a number lower than the people
E. movies, fewer than the ones

正确答案选的是B，我选的是E。

我的解题思路是：
1. 因为是fewer people, 而不是less people，所以排除 AC
2. than前面是a number，后面是people，两者无法对比，排除D
3. 用逗号引导下面的从句，比较结构里补充（the ones）killed by the bee stings

所以我两个问题不懂：
- 横杠这是什么作用，和逗号作用相等吗？
- 为什么补的是have been而不是the ones呢？

GmatLa的大神是这样分析的：
选项分析：

A选项：由于比较对象是“人”，而人是可数名词，因此less than（用于不可数名词）应改为fewer than。代词those的指代对象是people，比较对象没有问题。

B选项：Correct. 本选项在语法和逻辑上均是正确的。另外，本题用fewer than those也没有问题。

C选项：定语从句which is less than those killed by bee stings，其在字面上会就近修饰名词，即，the man-eater of the movies，逻辑有误。less than错误同选项(A)。

D选项：比数量应该用fewer than而不是lower than，数量只有多少，没有高低。

E选项：代词the ones指代有误。这个代词通常用于指代前面出现过的一堆人或物种的几个，例如：
I planted a lot of roses in my garden. The ones in white I like the best.
例句中的the ones指代的是a lot of roses中的几朵。在本题中，显然同一群人不可能即被鲨鱼咬死又被蜜蜂咬死。

不要考虑补充结构，ron说过千万个结构都等你补充，但是你只需要找到“比较词”右面的词，然后找到左面对应的词，是否match？与作者相比较的对相比较，是否表示了作者的意图？
是需要找最平行的一项结构，引用Ron的话：
in the correct answer, we have "have been killed by x" and "have been killed by y".
perfect.
you really aren't going to do any better than that!

in the choice with "those killed by bee stings" -- note that we don't have "people killed by the great white shark" in the other part.

this is really annoying at first, but, once you get used to this mentality, you'll find that it's one of the easier things to do on SC.
if you are a "quant person", you should be able to do these sorts of eliminations very quickly, because they operate on essentially mathematical principles (unlike, say, idiom or modifier issues).

感谢指点！可能比较结构最后是返璞归真不要想那么多就直接找比较词两边直接对应的结构就对了。。
我还是多找类似题目来找找感觉

比较这方面我也不是很清楚，还有一堆不足的地方...总觉得这不对那里对。相信我们可以共同进步。
PS：Ron关于比较貌似说过挺多，但是我没搜到。
