题目：why do you think people attend college or university?

I came from a small village. Seldom people from our village have chance to attend university, so they admired me very much when I was informed to go to university in one summer. I totally understand why the other people admired me or even envied me, because I used to be just one of them. It was not that easy in my time to go to university. And I overcame variety of difficulties to become a university student because I firmly believe attending university could benefit people in several ways.

One of the most important reasons for people to attend college/university is that college/university can open a window for us, especially for people coming from developing areas. Colleges and universities usually teach us knowledge that is inaccessible before we are admitted, and because college and universities are, generally speaking, located in big cities we also have the opportunity to see what the outside world exactly is as well. For example, it is only after attending in the university that I began to know how to chat on internet.

Another reason I personally believe that attending college/university is beneficial is that most of the students decide their future careers during college/university. That is also why we regard college/university as crossing road between campus and society. In the college/university, besides class study, we are also involved in kinds of extra curriculum activities. Both the knowledge and experience we gain inside and outside class helps us to recognize which specific area is attractive, what kind of knowledge and skills we would like to enhance further, and which field we would like to work in after graduation.

The last but not the least, nowhere is better than college/university campus for students to develop their network. We could not only become friends with classmates and even teachers, but also know people from companies, governments, and even NGO through sources such as internships. Such kind of network would turn to a lifelong fortune. Some of the people might help us succeed in future career, while some of them might become very close friends.

In conclusion, I have to admit that the reasons to attend college/university vary for different people. However, as far as I am concerned, college/university is a chance to extend people's experience, to think how to choose their future career paths, and to organize every possible network resources.
