Follow-Up Issues Concerning the Suspension
of the May TOEFL/TSE

Due to situations beyond control, the May 10 TOEFL/TSE will be suspended and to be resumed on August 23. Please note the following related issues:
1. The TOEFL and TSE test administration scheduled on May 10 will be suspended and to be resumed on August 23. Candidates holding the May admission tickets will sit for the August TOEFL without the need to re–register. However, An admission ticket can not be transferred to another person or to another test center.
2. Due to current situations, some test centers may not be able to issue admission tickets on scheduled dates and they appreciate candidates’ kindness to wait for further notice. There will be a display of new dates for admission tickets at www.51test.com on July 20.
3. Candidates not willing to test on the rescheduled test date will be provided with full refund (according Page 5 "Rescheduling the Test Date" of the TOEFL/TSE Bulletin of Information) and they DO NOT NEED to pick up their May admission tickets. A web page for cancellation and refund application will be opened at 12:am May 15 on the www.51test.com . This page will be closed at 12:am June 10.
4. The TOEFL/TSE refund will be delivered through "all in one" bank card issued by China Merchants Bank. The card holder’s name and id number must correspond with that of the candidates wishing to apply for cancellation and refund. Candidates (including non-Chinese natives) who do not have the "all in one" card can apply at any China Merchants Bank offices free of charge. For China Merchants Bank offices closest to you, check: http://www.bj.cmbchina.com/branch/brw.htm .
5. The 2003-04 TOEFL/TSE testing year includes such test dates as August 23, 2003, October 18, 2003, November 15, 2003, January 17, 2004, May 15, 2004. The TOEFL test fee for the new testing year has been changed to RMB1092 (US$130). Candidates who cancelled their May tests have to register again and pay for the new test fee. Registration start dates for the new testing year will be announced later (the August test currently does not accept new registration).

由于不可抗拒的原因，5月10日的TOEFL/TSE考试将推迟至8月23日进行，相关事项通知如下：

5月10日TOEFL和TSE考试推迟到8月23日进行。考生凭本人5月10日TOEFL或TSE准考证到已指定的考点参加考试，无需重新报名。准考证不得转让他人，考试地点不能更改。

目前有些考点暂时无法发放准考证，请考生暂时等待。我们将于7月20日在www.51test.com网站公布各考点发证时间。

如不参加8月23日TOEFL或TSE考试，考生不必领取5月10日TOEFL或TSE准考证，可以申请取消考试并全额退费 (根据TOEFL/TSE Bulletin of Information 第5页 Rescheduling the Test Date 的规定）。我们将于5月15日中午12：00在www.51test.com开通取消考试退费申请网页，退费申请至6月10日中午12：00截止。

TOEFL或TSE退费将通过招商银行 “一卡通”办理。拟申请退费考生必须持有以本人姓名和身份证号（或护照）开户的招商银行“一卡通”卡，目前没有持卡的考生请立即到各地招商银行营业网点办理“一卡通”（办理该卡不收费）。查询招商银行的营业网点分布可访问http://www.bj.cmbchina.com/branch/brw.htm。

2003-04年度的TOEFL/TSE考试日期为：03年8月23日、03年10月18日、03年11月15日、04年1月17日和04年5月15日。TOEFL考费全球统一调整为1092元人民币（约130美元）。已经申请5月考试退费的考生如要参加新年度的考试，须重新报名并按照调整后价格交费。新年度考试的报名开始时间另行通知（8月23日的考试暂定不接受新的报名）。
