Should teachers present controversial theories in their classes? With the development of society, many controversial issues have occurred in our daily lives. And this cause many young people do not know how to recognize and understand the truth of the issues because of lacking of experience and knowledge. Teachers, who impart knowledge, metal or physical, to youngsters, play a significant role in enlightening students. However, some teachers are likely to present controversial ideas or theories in their classes. Maybe some people encourage teachers to do that claiming it is beneficial for students to know what the world truly is like. But in my opinion, it is rather superficial to simply say that teachers are free to do so. Of course, some teachers would like to inform their students with the latest theories which are most likely controversial to the former ones so that students could be tied with the cutting edge of scientific research. They believe that this could trigger the interests and potential of students which would lead to better performance in students’ further scientific or career development, Thus teachers tend to discuss the controversial topics in class.

This means they may personally agree with the points. A good case in point is the issue about sexual orientation. This topic is heatedly debated all over the world, and also there is no certain final conclusion about it. Opinions varies from person to person, thus it is improper for teachers to bring such topic to the class for discussing.
