184. Some students prefer to study alone. Others prefer to study with a group of students. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Every student has his/her preference of how to study. Some love to study alone, while others consider studying in groups fitting themselves better. Virtually, each has its own limited merits.
While alone, one is more invulnerable with extra distractions. In my class, when get together, girls will forever talk about fashionable clothes and handsome movie stars, while boys are keen on sports games, even when they are studying. Study alone, however, all of these disappear. One could hardly be disturbed by the movements or talking of others, which provide him/her perfect circumstance to work out a complex linear equation, illustrate an interesting physical phenomenon, conceive the outline of a literature essay. More than that, studying alone is one of the most effective approaches to develop the ability of solving problems by oneself, which further enhances one’s independence.
On the other hand, a group indeed benefits its members a lot in their study process. When in a group, members could comprehend knowledge easier and happier in virtue of the merits provided by studying together, from beneficial discussion to intense debates. Sharing the experience and expert of one another, each in the group may get more knowledge and information. Furthermore, members can definitely learn more from others in group. Every person has distinctive advantage. One can invariably find someone else who performs less wisely than him\ her at physics could exhibit significant talent at literature and art. If they learn together as a group, a win-win consequence will be acquired. Finally, the sense of cooperation could be cultivated unconsciously. No other experiences could make one realize the merits of group-working better than being a member of it and contributing his/her energy for it.
As to me, neither studying alone nor learning with other people is the exclusive choice, and not should they be. I would love to select different means when variety of situations. Supposed I learn mathematics, when references are adequate, I prefer work alone, because logic and serious thinking always requires tranquil surroundings with least disruptions. On the other hand, if I want to learn a foreign language well, such as practicing my oral English, speaking also seems a poor idea, funny and stupid. In this condition, an accompanier who possesses a perfect pronunciation is an excellent choice. |
