5 A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.

In 1980s, a great reform happened in China. The government was beginning to encourage both individual and company to invest in the building of factories. As a result, the coastland in China, with the beneficial factor of transportation, attracted legions of investments from not only domestic but also foreign investors to build factories and companies. These factories and companies boom the development of local economy greatly. On the contrary, the regions in the west of China, do not have such facilitative transportation as coastland and failed to attract such investment. Consequently the economy there improved slowly. It is easy to make a conclusion that factory plays an extremely important role in boost the advancement of regional economy.

My mother, has been retired for three years, always complained her humdrum existence after retired from working. Recently, my mother is retrieved from faineant status because a large factory is built near our community. My mother has got an opportunity to work again in the factory. In fact, there are still a large number of people like my mother who are possible to hunt a job in this factory. It is no doubt that the factory built near our community will bring enormous benefits for the local residents.

Beside, the factory will become the key source that provides revenue to the local government. Only if the government has a great deal of revenue, could it enhance the constructing of infrastructure, such as transportation and communications systems, schools and post offices etc. Accordingly, the speed to access internet will be much faster, jam in the road can be relieved. The most importantly, it is possible for kids to study in much more comfortable environment in school.

However, when enjoying the conveniences that the factory creates for us, we can not omit the negative effects that the factory brings, like environment pollution, energy consuming and the disorder of ecosystem. The building of factory is a double-edge sword. Only when proper measures and great efforts are taken to guard the development of the factory, could it product intrinsic advantages for us.

In a nutshell, considering all the pros and cons, the advantages of factory outweigh the disadvantages. From my point of view, I support the decision of building a factory near our community.
