according“and,conversely", we can find that the clause“why most of the people exposed to the alleged causes do not commit crimes" and the clause“why so many of those not so exposed——”should be parallel.

so we choose D: do, which refers to "commit crimes".

to do 短语修饰attempts，None of the attempts 的中心词是none，为什么后面的explain用单数？在google上查出一句Maybe none of them are terrorists.....是用的复数阿
