Do you agree or disagree with that statement: you (student) should take the most difficult class in college or at university, even if you cannot get the top grades (or marks) in them.
Should students take the most difficult class in college, even if they may not get the top grades? Different people will give different responses to this question from their own characters, emotion concerns, and even family backgrounds. According to my personality and experience, I strongly support the opinion that students should take several most difficult classes at university. I would like to further illustrate my reasons as follows:
Just as Richard Nixon-former president of United States-once said: “Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.” Taking the most difficult class is a very opportunity for students who have ambitions! Youngsters should be brave enough to face challenges; Youngster should not despair when facing problems; Youngsters should grasp the opportunity offered in the difficult courses! Some courses may be extremely hard for students to earn a top sore, but produce more opportunities as well. Because of their hardness, there are fewer students who dare to take these courses. As a result, people who take one or more of these courses will be much more competitive than others who daren’t.
Someone might argue that a student will lose more because the low grades of the difficult classes: employers will consider a student with a low grades not qualified; graduate schools will also take the marks into consideration. However, this is not totally true in the society. Students who apply for an admission to a university or a job could give his/her rank in those courses to demonstrate his/her prominence. Furthermore, we must keep in mind that some areas demand many employees with specific knowledge and background. Because of the difficulty, there are not many graduates who meet the requirement of those jobs. So students who take some abstruse courses will find excellent jobs quite easier. This is just like what Jean-Claude Killy has said: “To win you have to risk loss” A lower grades is somehow a kind of loss, but the experience and knowledge is something that helps to win in the future career.
All in all, due to the mentioned reasons above, we can safely reach the conclusion that that students should take the most difficult class in college. Because they will benefit much more from it, for they are offered more opportunities and gain a stronger background. |
