第一次考托,完全没复习,百分百全裸。。。完全是抱着回馈CDer的心态来的。。希望没白费功夫~
考完去Chili's吃了个饭回来就8寂静,脑子都扣木了扣了这么些题出来。。。
本人没攻过托,更没写过寂静。因为觉得1。便于回忆 2。便于大家遇到相同题木后去对应关键内容,所以用英文写的。我尽可能的把我想的起来的内容,问题,答案全部码出来了。不过求快就不能求稳,写的不清楚的地方,需要解释的,请留言。O(∩_∩)O谢谢

After the Civil War, the technology of sugar producing was improved. The product is almost identical, and customers see no major reasons to choose one from another. Many of the firms are not profitable, but they still keep on doing business because: one, they are expecting the demand to grow; two, it incurs more financial damage to close down the business than to sell it at discount. 3. An insect, name starts with S (没记住—_—). S can detect you from any direction when you approach and will raise its tail. S has eyes all over its back. But they are not as large as its ancestors’, so S can not see very detailed and clear image. When the sunshine is too strong and harmful, a substance will grow from the bottom of its eyes to the top to form a pair of “sunglasses” to protect the eyes from harmfulness. S can sense the movement of ppl because it’s sensitive to the shakes passed by the sands. S can also sense the airborne movements, but with its hair at the end of legs. 1. Students in Intro to music class want to hold fund raising for high school musical class by giving a concert. Instructor agreed that musical education is important. 2. About the shape of maple seed. It’s a swing like seed with nut on one end. This shape allows the seed to spin in the air and travel farther, thus increase the possibility of survival.

3. Ball lightening and ordinary lightening. Ball lightening is a rare form of lighting in the shape of a glowing ball that can last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. Typically associated with thunderstorms. It can by colorful, and very strange. It different from plasma cloud, cuz plasma cloud is hot and rising, and only last for microseconds. Silicon is usually presents when ball lightening appears. However, sometime on the airplane, when silicon is not found, ball lightening also happens. This is due to other chemicals that caused ball lightening, maybe aluminum. One could record the ball lightening by set up a video camera, but it might take long time to wait. QUESTIONS: a) What are the differences between ball lightening and plasma cloud? – different time durations b) What might be true if choose to witness the ball lightening? – have to be very patient. c) Why is there ball lightening on the airplane? – other particles besides silicon caused it.
4. The 19th century’s electronic music. There are 3 important inventions: magnetic tape, synthesizer, and computer. Tape allowed musicians to not only record but also cut and paste the pieces. Synthesizers allow musicians to create sounds of hundreds of instruments. More and more contemporary musicians are doing music on computer now. One type of music to record is “musique concrete (写实音乐,具象音乐).” Any sound in the nature can be recorded as musique concrete. Some ppl don’t think musique concrete is music because they define music differently. QUESTIONS: a) Why does sb not see musique concrete as a musical form? – their definition is too narrow b) Which is true about using computer to make music? – can make all kinds of sounds. The option says “having more access on internet…” is not mentioned thus WRONG!
5. Student comes to the information desk of a library. She wants to borrow a book about the volcano on White Island in Ireland. The book is found in the computer system but not on the shelf. The librarian said the book might just being returned and is still waiting for reshelf. He also said they just changed into a very new computer system which is difficult to use. In order to search for journals, she has to type both keyword “white island” and “journal.” QUESTIONS: a) What is the student asking about by the information desk? – checking a book which she didn’t find on the shelf b) What did the librarian indicated about the new system? – it’s flawed and needs improvement
6. Student came to an art professor cuz she needs to do a presentation on wax painting. She thought the ancient encaustic painting is interesting, but also like the contemporary artist like Jasper Johns (贾斯培?琼斯). There are several advantages of wax painting over traditional oil paintings. First, if the painter failed, wax can be melted and repaint. Secondly, the time cost to get dried is shorter than oil painting. The professor gave her the option to come to one of his Intro to art classes, which will be taught by his former college as a guest instructor. QUESTIONS: a) What are the advantages of wax painting? – allow one to experiment with, & dries faster b) How did the professor suggested to help her? – allow her to come to one of his class

The school is going to remove the vending machine from the hallway cuz they think the food sold in there are non-nutritious, and students can always buy those food in the close-campus convenient store. The girl in the dialogue disagreed for 3 reasons: one, the school can change the non-nutritious food with healthy ones, like nuts, dried fruit, and juice. Two, students don’t have enough time between classes to go to off-campus store. Three, when stay up late for tests, no food will be available at the store cuz they will be closed by 10pm. QUESTION: to sum up the opinion of the girl.
4. A girl is confused cuz her dad is coming to the town for a medical meeting, and wants to have dinner and go to theater with her. They haven’t met for a long time but the girl has a big biology test the next morning. She think she should go just for dinner, but even so she will be stay up late and get very tired during the test. QUESTION: help her to pick one solution from the two (not go or go for dinner), and explain your reason.
5. Magnification is a psychological phenomenon that one doubts the ability, lose confidence, just see the negative part of life, and enlarging the negative elements regardless of the positive side. The professor in the dialogue told the story about his son: he’s an actor one year in college and did great during his performance. All the audience liked him, but he thought he’s an awful actor because he forgot one line of his character. The next year he didn’t go to the tryout and stopped acting. QUESTION: how did the example in the dialogue illustrated the concept of magnification?
