Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people.
Some people believe that always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people. Admittedly, honesty is a very precious virtue, but sometimes telling the truth is not the best option and other factors are also important in a stable relationship.
In some circumstances, hiding the truth is to protect or encourage people you loved and to avoid unexpected results. For example, teachers would tell children they do something very well, but actually they mess it up. How could you tell a child that he do a really bad job, which might hurt him deeply and leave psychological shadow. Some people are sensitive and fragile so that they are not strong enough to stand the truth. Therefore, a white lie would help a lot and avoid hurting their feeling.
Furthermore, there are many other considerations in a relationship, such as give and take, loyalty, privacy, understanding and so on. Honesty is not the only one that is important. If people are asked to give an order to these considerations, they would definitely have different opinions. What people have been through affect their mind and their opinions to things. No one’s life is completely same with others, so the priority of each factor could be different. People who feel under control might want space in their relationship with others and people who are betrayed by friends and lovers might consider loyalty to be the most important virtue.
Telling the truth is necessary in any relationship. It might not be the most important one, but it is absolutely the indispensible one. However, we should not consider white lies bad things. There are too many people involved and too much things we need to deal with in our life so that many relationships are complicated. We put all the factors together and then decide what to do. We could not just simply obey the rules like always telling the truth.
In brief, honesty is one of the most important factors in a relationship while white lies are acceptable and sometimes helpful.
