First of all, some movies tell stories that are full of imagination, such as Star War series, George Lucas' most outstanding work, extending people's imagination to a war in the galaxy, and attracting thousands of fans. Some movies tell romantic stories. For instance, the Notting Hill, one of my favorite movies, tells a love story between an ordinary British gentleman and a celebrated American movie star. This kind of stories attracts most people.
Further more, not only fascinating stories but also charming actors and actresses contribute to the popularity of movies. Audiences are always interested in the movie stars as well as the movie itself. A lot of great names, such as Nichol Kidman, Julia Roberts, Audrey Hepburn, Hugh Grant, Harrison Ford, are popular in massive quantities of people of different ages, different education backgrounds, and different nationalities. Many times, movie fans pay for their loved movie stars more for the movies which their idols act in.
Finally, the culture different from the audiences own is another attractive factor. For example, American Pie, popular for a quite long time, succeeds in showing its audiences a picture of the life of American youth thus drawing a large number of people born in other cultures. Similarly, we can gain some knowledge as to other countries from the movies produced by those countries. It’s much cheaper and more convenient to watch a movie than to travel to a foreign country for oneself.
To sum up, an increasing number of people enjoy watching movies for the sake of interesting stories, amazingly appealing actors and actresses, and different cultures. Therefore, I believe that the movie industry will become more and more prosperous in the future. |
