`Clearly, government has a responsibility to support the arts. However, if that support is going to produce anything of value, government must place no restrictions on the art that is produced.~
Facing such a dilemma: whether or not support the arts, governments might hold different thoughts. The arguer claims that government should take the responsibility to support the arts and must place no restrictions on the art, if the support is going the produce anything of value. In my view, I think government should not only give support to the art but also place some restrictions on the art .
In the first place, the most convincing for my view is that artists are difficult to survive without the support of government. For example, in China where individual support is very rare, most artist s depend on the support of Chinese government to continue their career. Without the support of the government, these artists are very likely to drop up their art career, and consequently, our Chinese cultures can not be as prosperous as they are now. Government plays a crucial role in the conservation of the arts.
In the second place, government should place some restrictions on the arts, if they violate the value and virtue of the common public. We need to realize that some arts might contain materials which are harmful for the mental health of people. For these arts, government should forbid them from publication without any concern. A survey conducted in the many nations reveals that the majority of people hope government to forbid the harmful arts from flowing in the public. Therefore, in terms of the responsibility of government or the expectation of people, government should put some restriction on the acts.
Admittedly, some nations ,because of their different cultures, may have other decisions. For example, in some countries, there are much individual supports for the arts and therefore government support might appear to be less important. Hence, the governments are not likely than other governments to support the arts. However, these exceptional examples can not substantiate the view that government should not take the responsibility to support the arts . One should not be confused, and should realize that the major role government played in supporting the arts.
To sum up, the issue that whether or not government should support the art or place restrictions on it is a complex one; consequently, there is not easy and certain answers. So different are personal experience and emotional concerns of people with diverse cultures that thousand individuals may hold thousand opinions. As far as I am concerned, I think government should not only give support to the art but also place some restrictions on the art .
