XY02-30 我的看法，不同于所谓的标准答案

我的答案是A，但是XY的标准答案是D，而且好像不存在任何争议。我想大多数人认为比较结果需要补充被比较部分的主谓省略结构，但事实上当句子比较工整对称而且不引起歧义的前提上，是可以不补的。比如两道OG题

OG198. Although Napoleon's army entered Russia with far more supplies than they had in their previous campaigns, it had provisions for only twenty-four days.
A.  they had in their previous campaigns
B.  their previous campaigns had had
C.  they had for any previous campaign
D.  in their previous campaigns
E.  for any previous campaign

正确答案选E,此题表明在前后两部分主语谓语相同的情况下，可以不补出主谓的省略机构。如果要补，一定要补对。

有人也许认为A中at any time需要改成at any other time, 但我认为在有限定词in history的情况下，是不需要加other的，因为出题人的意图很明显，是要将现在和历史进行强对比；反而如果将1970年的情况和历史对比，那么倒需要加other。当然此观点我没找到OG合适的例子来说明。

XY给出标准答案是D, 但在OG的观点里D存在一个错误, 因为more fuel-efficient small cars是有歧义的, more 即可修饰fuel-efficient,又可修饰cars.请看下题,
