请教几个Finance PhD的研究方向

To my limited knowledge, the mainstream is indeed the two you mentioned.

However, I don't think you need to worry about this too much at this point. You already have a solid background in math/statistics. This has already paved your way in terms of methodology. For your majoy concentraction, you will be exposed to those topics extensively in the coming future. While you explore the various topics, you will pick up the one(s) you are really interested at.

It might not be necessary for you to focus on the mainstream. Do something you (we) really like - I always believe so.

不敢直接回答Highwaystar的问题，毕竟我们都只是Junior in Finance。但是又想说点自己想法。

这里的讨论我觉得有较好的借鉴。希望你能找到自己的答案。当然，我觉得除了主流方向的考虑外，还要考虑未来学术热点的变换（亚洲金融危机就改变了当时很多的研究重心）和自己的兴趣（毕竟是要考虑到万一出不了成果的机会成本啊）。

的确是这样。

想自己的理论被广泛接受和研究，需要很多年的推广，就象欧元理论一样。

但有时候又想：既然都已经选择学术这条路了，也就不要太赶潮流了。相信在合理的体制下，只要不是蛤蟆功，估计总归可以找到个落脚之地。如果万一有多年需要“郁闷”，只当选择学术这条路错了。
