I feel bad for Kellogg after the event yesterday.

Yesterday, I went to Kellogg's BJ meeting and talked to some alumni. They were smart guys, and inside the network they were friendly and united. However, I was surprised to find out they were so exclusive that they grasped every chance to backbite other top schools, especially Chicago GSB, which I admire so much even I don’t apply. I don’t think I will enjoy joining them and saying “How can GSB compare with us!” or “I don’t want to name it, but other school in Chicago blahblahblah…” They also talked something like this about Stanford, HBS, Columbia and Yale. I don’t want to mention any more. Their behavior froze my passion to apply Kellogg, though I already paid the application fee. What I want to do now is to ask for refund!

This never happened to me. Before I went to other schools’ events, I thought I would give them up. But those alumni successfully motivated me and ignited my passion to apply their schools. But not for Kellogg this time! I regret my payment to Kellogg so much! Now I feel no enthusiasm for writing its essays at all...

Pls share ur advice with me!

I don't think several alumni's behavior will fully represent the school as a whole. I am sure Kellogg has some coolest people there and they just happened not to be at the BJ meeting. Think about why you apply for the school and don't be influenced by these people.

hey, girl, take it easy!i don't think those Alumni are worthy of being taken serious~~~Also it seems to me that the issue is not that serious to affect your judgement and impression toward Kellogg.Cheer

a useful tool for choosing schools is to meet their alumni and see whether you will feel comfortable being among them and being seen as one of them in the future. Be aware that much of your learning at school is from group interactions. I think wise people have an open mind and accept others to be as great(may be in different aspects) as themselves.

As for the refund, forget about it and focus your energy/time on the top priority goals.

Dear potatoto同学:

I am very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Kellogg BJ presentation.  I felt even worse to hear that one of our potential classmates is having reservation about applying to Kellogg. I can speak for myself that Kellogg is indeed a great MBA program; We do have a wonderful Chinese community here at Kellogg, and we are trying our best to help more Chinese students understand Kellogg.

I am not sure about what happened in the presentation, but will definitely get in touch with the students who went there. I will get back to you as soon as I could.  Before that, I do want to point out a few facts and hope that

2:   There is no rivalry at all between Kellogg and other peer schools.  That's why I was a little surprised when I first saw your message. I personally was invited to participate in Healthcare/Biotech Conference and Asian Businiess conference orginized by GSB.  And we returned the same favor to GSB Chinese students.   There are not many Chinese students in top business schools.  It is almost a necessity to respect and unite all of them to be able to achieve our common goals -- to be successful professionally and to help increase Chinese presence in top business schools.
