Fully funded PhD Positions in Information Systems at QuestromSchool of Business, Boston University

Opportunity: TheInformation Systems (IS) department at Boston University’s Questrom School ofBusiness invites applications for its PhD program from motivated andintellectually curious candidates. Applicants should have a prior degree inBusiness, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or anotherrelevant technical area. Relevant experience in research is desirable but notrequired.

Questrom provides PhD students witha generous stipend and tuition support for five years. Additional funding isalso available to support research and conference travel.

Faculty: Our worldclass faculty conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection ofInformation Systems, Economics, and Machine Learning. Our faculty includeglobal experts in the areas of fintech, digital healthcare, generative AI,online reputation systems, platform economics, and social media, among others.Questrom is regularly rankedamong the top global institutions for research output, and seven ofour IS faculty have recently been named among the top 2% ofall scientists globally for citation impact. Our faculty serve on the editorialboards of several leading management journals, including Management Science,Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and Marketing Science. Finally, weorganize the leading annual conference on PlatformStrategy research, and our department features a vibrant seminar series, hostingleading international scholars from related fields. These events create greatcollaboration opportunities for our faculty and students.

Research Opportunities: Ourfaculty research interest and expertise include (but are not limited to)

Student Research andAccomplishments: PhD students from our department have obtained tenure trackfaculty positions at top research Universities worldwide in recent years (e.g.,the University of Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Hong Kong University of Science andTechnology, McGill University). Our students have also won best paper awards atflagship conferences and workshops in the discipline, including the Conferenceon Information Systems and Technology (CIST), the Workshop in InformationSystems and Economics (WISE), and the Workshop on Information Technologies andSystems (WITS). Finally, our students’ research has appeared in several topjournals, including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MISQuarterly, and Organization Science.
