It is the common sense that to get the expected outcomes, we should not only tell people what to do, but also tell them how to do it. Without telling them how to do, we may do be surprised by them, but unfortunately, most time, the surprise is caused not by their ingenuity but rather than by the unexpected aftermath. I will support my standpoint by the following argument.
The primary and the most important reason to support my argument is that not all the people are geniuses, and it is not the case that most ones are able to fulfill the duties perfectly without any guide. Therefore, simply assigning the works to people without any guidelines will cause them to spend more time on the works, hereby decrease the efficiency. Moreover, when they misunderstand the implication of the works or duties, it is possible that the result will turn out to be unsatisfactory, even worse. If an advice or guideline will help people to make things much easier and save time, why not just tell them?
The second reason is that for most cases it is the purpose to teach people learn to work rather than only to finish the work. For the freshmen, to be told how to do things will benefit them in the future when handle with the similar things. For instance, there is new comer in the company, and the supervisor hand out some assignments to the staff including the new comer, and since he knows little about the work, he won't bring it out as skillfully as the others, it is necessary to give him some guides, that is to tell him how to do it. It will do good to both the company and the new comer, on one hand, the new comer can learn things more quickly, on the other hand, the company will make works finished more effectively. Why not offer the method to do things when there is double-win? Both reasons illustrate that it is advisable to tell people how to do things when tell them what to do.
Undeniably, there do be creative geniuses, and they can do things excellently only with told what to do. However this case is rare, and doesn't happen most time, hereby only the extreme examples can not constitute the sufficient evidence to conclude that only telling people what to do will surprise us with their ingenuity. Hence, the position cited in the construction is unconvincing.
To sum the final analysis, I advocate telling people how to thing while telling them what to do. To avoid the unexpected surprise, we'd better to highlight the basic principle to bring out the work. According to the reasons stated above, doing so will not only enhance the efficiency but also make people learn more quickly.
请大家指教啦,顺便给电hint啊,tell me how to do~~~~
