正确答案C中的so可以指代名词satisfaction?可否有人进一步点拨一下关于so指代的用法。。。。

不好意思，我是这道题看到more than形式里有so这个词就选了。到目前为止如果比较中出现so，我一般都选哪个，还没有错过,觉得这是GMAC的一个preference

不好意思，上次的分析不是很靠谱。kelly你看下这题我现在的思路是；

A study on couples' retirement transitions found that women who took new jobs after retiring from their primary careers reported high marital satisfaction, more than when retiring completely.

(A) more than when retiring
(B) more than if they were to retire
(C) more so than those who retired
(D) which was more so than those retiring
(E) which was more than if they had retired

1.读句义知道是根据women 半退休和全退休的一个比较。所以根据比较两边必须平行的原则，应该是women who took new jobs xxx more than women who retired completely,后半段必须是women who xxx，因为前半段是women who took

那么我们看选项

A．when retiring,而左边没有这个平行的结构
B．出现了if从句，可是左边么有if从句
C．Those (指代women正确) who retired，正确！
D/E.都是which was的结构，错误！因为：读句义这里应该是独主结构修饰整个句子，而which不能修饰前面的整句，which这么放着只能修饰前置词satisfaction, 逻辑意思有误

根据曼哈顿的书P230的解释，DO SO可以指代entire action, 也就是do sth adv。这里我觉得是指代reported high marital satisfaction。但是我觉得这个so不是此题的考点，而是比较平行的结构才是考点。如果仅仅用so来做判断的话，可能会掉入GMAC其他题目的陷阱

kelly，好好看看那天我传在糊糊帖子里的平行结构，最近我觉得这种平行结构吃透的话，能够解决很多题目，我真的遇到很多了。prep08里也有很多

我觉得可以这样分析：
由于这里有more than，我们需要知道句子比较的是什么？
题目有两个可比：1.report高满意度的女性人数；2.满意度的高低；
由于满意度前的high没有用比较级，所以不比较这个，而是比较人数；
D、E选项的which就近修饰satisfaction，导致more than里的比较指向满意度，所以不对，遂排除。

搜到这个题号还是很开心的，很感谢你对于so的解释啊，看来明天我要翻MHT了
但是我不同意你的观点，理由是women比women的话，即A is more than B，那么系动词在哪里呢？
所以我认为more该作adj看modify satisfaction
more so = more + V + O = report high(er) marital satisfaction
more so than those who retired = report higher marital satisfaction than women who retired completely do

请问这个题目最后怎么解释的呢?
我在想如果修饰satisfaction的话为啥还要这么复杂啊，我感觉直接说higher than xx 应该可以了吧？
但是我不太理解上面为啥有人说这是独立主格？
