我觉得这题的关键不在比较对象是否对应上

把同位语插入成分 a pioneer journalist丢掉来看句子主干

红色是主语，粉色是谓语，蓝色是宾语
句子想说的是exploits包括什么，而后面黄色部分是作为modifier去修饰宾语的，to provide more information，所以重心不在于找比较的counterpart，把它当做一个修饰成分就好，如果非要扣的话，不妨把作为动名词的宾语 circling the globe改为宾语从句看：
