Prep07上的一道题：

Although the turtle has been toothlessfor more than 150 million years, in some contemporary turtle

species the moderately sharp and jaggededges of their horny jaws function for teeth.

(A) their horny jaws function for teeth

(B) its horny jaws function for teeth

(C) its horny jaws function as do teeth

(D) the horny jaws function as teeth do

               (E) the horny jaws function as teeth

         想请教一下：A中their的为什么错？指代对象为什么不能是turtle species？

应该是后面用function as teeth，不是for teeth。
问题应该不在their吧。

turtle species不是一个词组 their要不就指turtle 要不就指species 指turtle 单复数错误指species 句意错误
体会下， of (their) jaws 是乌龟的爪子还是种类的爪子。很明显their指谁都不对。
