请教Excepting的用法,OG11紫13题

仔细看这个题目的D的解释，发现原来OG并不是认为Excepting不可以用，而是认为excepting要用于否定句。Longman上说，Excepting是个介词相当于except for，但是并没有说它是要用于否定句，相反，Longman上给了个肯定句的例子。O'Rourke answered all the questions excepting the last one.

请教各位NNs, excepting怎么用？这里D不选的原因只是因为GMAC偏向于用excepting在否定句么？

如果同时出现excepting 和except for在否定句里面哪个更优？个人偏向except for,鉴于GMAT应该尽量用常见的简单的语法的原则。
