1. It is in the department of mathematics, and thus it is reasonable that it require more mathematics when compared to a similar level MFE which is hosted by business school, or even engineering faculty.
2. Not to mention that you had not get any MFE offer at the same level as Columbia MAFN (e.g. UCLA MFE)...but just BU and NYU Poly.
3. I think it is reasonable to expect a majority of (stochastic process, time series, ODE, PDE, Numerical Analysis, Numerical method for diff eqn, optimization, and etc...). Multivariate Calculus is a must...... but shouldn't it be something to be in year 1 or 2?
4. Programming background is a big concern too. Having a C++ class is useful......well, but you had not passed it yet right? so it doesn't count. Same logic holds for your advanced math course in progress. |
