Each core department is a essential component of a successful business. e.g. no marketing, no sales. 2. There is no one-man show in successful large businesses. It's too complicate for one company to manage all resources. e.g. out-sourcing, sub-contracting. IBM is trying to manage all the Payrolls of intermediate businesses. Hence, those successful businesses may not even handle their Payroll. Should the CEOs deserve the credit for doing so? Apprantly not.

However,

3. It maybe possible for a gas-station owner or a family farm stand owner to have a successful micro-business. And they, being the sole owner of a S corporation, should deserve the full credit.
