To my understanding, it is as follows, "Advocate" means hold a positive view. For example, if you are working for the HR department, and your boss is a HR VP, he always communicateS with other colleagues or other departments with a positive view on you, rather than a negative one, and sometimes he also recommend you to join some important projects of the company. Personally, I agree with the argument because 1) it can motivate the staff if he knows that boss is an advocate of himself 2) The staff feel appreciated by the boss 3) The advocacy provides staff opportunities to step up 4) of course, the boss should not exaggerate how good the staff is. If the staff screw up, then his reputation will be ruined. My thoughts only... welcome comments. |
