题目:Whether parents are the best teachers?
正文:
Teaching is an open-ended, all-inclusive term, which knows no bound. It take place anywhere, whether in the family or in the school, whether in the office or in the church. The agents of teaching range from teachers to parents, from management to peers. Admittedly, parents teach us in daily lives from infancy on, give us their valuable lessons learned and teach us patiently. Parents' teaching is an integral part of our whole life. While parents are important teachers, they are often not the best teachers because they cannot provide full-scale, advanced, and systematic teaching. The following discussion will substantiate my view.
Firstly, although parents provide informal training taking place in the family, they can not provide the whole universe of formal training. It is inevitable for Children to learn a wide assortment of knowledge, including mathematics, history, chemistry, politics, biology and etc.. However, learning only part of these subjects, or forgetting some of them, parents cannot teach more subjects than college teachers or professors. The teaching content is limited by the boundaries of the subjects parents know. Also, eligible as they are, they didn't have time and energy enough to guarantee the teaching quality. Therefore, we cannot conclude that parents are the best teachers because they cannot provide full scale of education that children need.
Secondly, behind my view that parents are not best teachers lies the fact that parents cannot pass on advanced knowledge to children. This century witnesses rapid change and growth everyday, and the knowledge expands greatly, becoming more complicated and breaking completely out of the traditional scope of music, art ,and so on . Children, therefore, must learn some state-of-the-art technologies, such as computer science, wireless communication. Nevertheless, parents cannot keep up with these technology developments. Professional experts, rather than parents, are appropriate candidates to impart this kind of knowledge. So, parents are not best teachers in imparting up-to-date technologies.
Last but not least, parents cannot teach children systematically. Considering rules of child psychology, teachers, professional trainers, or professors may use a myriad of teaching approaches ,such as games, case studies, or experiments, making the teaching more interesting, interactive and impressive .In addition, they also impart knowledge step by step, from easy one to difficult one . But, parents may teach children at random, not much more logically and systematically than teachers, professional trainers or professors. Hence, parents are not best teaches in that they are not at home in teaching methodology.
In conclusion, while parents play an important role in teaching us, they are not the best teachers in that they can not provide full-scale, advanced, and systematic teaching.
