People care more about public recognition thanabout money. Even if no more money is given, public recognition can still makepeople work harder.
With the development of modern society, an increasing number of people now enjoy a higher standard of living. Some people stand on the ground that people care more about money than about public recognition since we want a better life. However, from my point of view, public recognition is more important to make people work harder.
Admittedly, money is the foundation of our everyday life. The most basic human instinct is survival and to survive in today’s society you need to make money to buy food, clothes, houses etc, not to mention travel or enjoy exciting experiment. Money can not only provide us everything we need for survive but also make our live better. However, we will pursuit spirit satisfaction other than just money since our basic requirement is not a problem
To begin with, public recognition can make people feel happy in mental which money cannot offer. In fact, the total money a man can spend on himself is limited. A person need to feel connected, respected, and recognized by other people, that’s the difference between human being and other animal species. Take my grandfather, a famous doctor in the biggest hospital in my hometown, as example. He is 75 years old this year and still work in the hospital everyday while he suppose to retired at the age of 65. Does he need more money for the better future of his own life? Of course not. In fact, he barely buys anything for himself except some basic stuff for now. He works so hard just because he feels needed when his patients come to the hospital and ask to see him.
Furthermore, public recognition can help people to earn more money. In this age of information explosion, people are constantly overwhelmed by all kinds of information in mass media. The more public recognition you get the more money you will earn. Suppose you are an actor who is not that famous. Just imaging the difference income between you and a famous actor, do you still prefer more money to a wonderful character which will bring you more public recognition?
In summary, due to the above-mentioned reasons, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that public recognition are more important than money in this contemporary society, we should work hard on it for a brighter future of ourselves.
