题目:Given advice from people who are older than you is more valuable than from people of your age.
Many people may consider the advice from older is more valuable than from people of our age, because they think the older people have experienced more in their lives. However, I would like to say, the advice from the older isn't always suitable for us to apply into practice.
The first reason is that the elder’s advice may not be feasible in this fast changing world. Of course we should admit that the older have gathered many precious experiences, which to some extent are the treasure in their lifetime. However, no one can deny that the world is changing so rapidly that the old aren't able to catch up with these changes. For example, fifty years ago we had no personal computers, no cell phones let alone the Internet. If we ask a very respected person, who is too old to learn some high technology deceives, about how to communicate with our supervisor, he might recommend us to write a letter, the best way for communication in his mind. On the contrary, people of our age are likely to suggest sending e-mails or short messages instead. We all know that writing a letter is in low efficiency because it will take a couple of days to deliver the letter. Whereas, sending e-mails or short messages is much more convenient, because the addressee can receive them in seconds and sender can ensure that the e-mails or short message won't be lost during the sending process. Therefore the advice from the old may be not that feasible.
And at the second place, age doesn't necessarily means intelligence or wisdom. Those who are young but knowledgeable with a large scope can give us more valuable advice than the little-educated old man. It is the knowledge not the age that can help us conquer difficulties. When we are caught in trouble, the wise young man can use his knowledge to help us analyze the current situation objectively, figure out the key point and reason out several solutions. Hence we need to ask those who are wise not who are old for advice.
From what we have discussed above, we can safely come to the conclusion that advice from the old cannot necessarily benefit us more than the one from the young. We should always remember that knowledge is the most powerful thing in the world. Only equipped with knowledge can we solve any problem.
