Claim: Colleges and universities should specify all required courses and eliminate elective courses in order to provide clear guidance for students.
Reason: College students—like people in general—prefer to follow directions rather than make their own decisions. （老题库230）
结论：为了给学生提供一个明确的方向，学院和大学应该指定所有的必修课程，移除选修课程。
原因：和大众一样，大学生更喜欢按部就班，不喜欢自己做决定。
The claim suggests that collages should eliminate as many as possible choices in
order to offer students clear direction,for the reason that collage student are more
likely to follow other's advise.I partially disagree with the claim.For I think that
though following other's advise is crucial,collage student should not follow the advise
blindly.Moreover, I think it is more vital to teach collage students to make a decision
on their own.
First I must concede that collage students should take notice of the guide and advise
of others.though they are adults,they are still fledging.They are prone to get confused
about their future,or hesitate when they are facing many choices.In order to direct
them and help them,they should rely on his advisors,his precedents.Because these
people,who experience more and have some thoughtful studys,are helpful to these
students.And moreover,in 21st century,much more opportunities are available and yet
more challenges are also rising.Facing various ways of the future,it is hard for a inexperienced student to choose one that really fits him.If he fails to pick a suiting one,it is not only a individual's loss.It's a nation's loss,even the whole world's loss.
But the suggestion that collage student must listen to others' advises does not mean that students do not need to decide for themselves.Because the future path is of their own,They have the responsibility to be charge of it,The student should think of his own situation
actively while reckoning on the advise.It is foolish to ignore other's advise on the
whole,but it is more foolish to accept other's advise blindly.The advisor are not
omnipotent.Their advise are not cure-all.So for a specific student,he must not only
reckon on the direction others offer,but also should rely on his own mind.
More importantly,to fulfil the purpose of the education of their own.Student should
to taught and encouraged to rely on themselves to make decisions according to the
condition of their own.A Collage student should not be as same as high school student.A
collage student have to learn many things beside academic knowledge.Since their way of
life have just begun,they need help of others.Just as bridling needs a nest and their
parents' protection.But at last collage student must leave their"nest and
protection",and rely on themselves to make a decision.So to foster a ability to decide
and the courage to choose,it is necessary for collage student to try to make their
decision,no matter how small the issue is.It will benefit the student a lot in the
future.
To sum up,it is important to follow other's advises and collages have the
responsibilities to give as many guides as possible to their student to help them to do
better in the study.But more importantly,a student should think actively and should not
blindly accept advises.Moreover,the collage should encourage its student to try doing
some decisions to cultivate them and foster the ability to rely themselves to decide.
