MBA申请FAQ之二：GPA换算

I didnt attend a chinese college, so my comments might not be valid. dont, please dont kill me if i were wrong.

First i didnt know whether or not your school is willing to do  you this flavor to remove some courses with bad marks on your transcript.

Second, The schools in the states assume transcrpt the record of all your classes taken in the same schools. They also assume that you have about same amount of class taken per sememster. Of course you might take 4 classes one semester and 6 the other. But if all your bad marks happen to be in the same semeter, and if you intend not to show those classes, this will flag to the admin because you were obviously taking much less classes in the semester.

Third,if the admin does a background check, obviously, you will be in hell. (did i just say hell??) it potentially hurts the other chinese students as well just like what 39th floor said.

Fourth, the removal of couple bad marks of some class is not going to increase your overall gpa signifiantly.  If you can explain, then explain. IF you can't, then you might just want to live with it and work on other parts of your application. GPA is just a number, it is in the past. Present and Future are the ones the you can change. Work on something that you are able to have an impact on.

Certainly, you are the one who will make the final call. It is just my 2 cents.

既然对这个问题有疑问的人很多，我就说细一点。

首先要说明的是，去掉非核心课程的目的绝非提高GPA，而是让老外更“有效率”的了解申请者的学习成绩。

其实这很好理解。设想一个MIT高能物理专业的教授想招若干PhD，他所关心的申请者学习成绩自然仅限于相关的课程。让他从一个包括思想政治1、2、3、4，mzd思想概论以及法律甚至近代音乐史等课程的成绩单中，筛选出与高能物理相关的科目，这显然有点“残忍”。首先，他要先了解什么史mzd思想概论，其次，他才能判断这和高能物理有什么关系（实际上没关系）。

多年从大陆招收学生的经验最后告诉他，他需要的不是一份包括所有科目的成绩单，而是仅仅包括核心课程的成绩单。

这就是产生“去掉某些课程的成绩单”的原因。

下面说说申请MBA所需要的成绩单。首先，和别的专业不同，MBA学位并没有特别的研究方向，因此不存在严格意义上的“核心课程”。也正是这个原因，每年录取的学生中，各种行业专业的人士都有。因此，私自去掉某些课程不合理。

其次，如果本着提升GPA的目的而删减课程，且不说ethics层面上的问题，如果被check出来，则会有很严重的后果。据我所知，越来越多的学校开始雇佣第三方来确保申请者大学成绩的真实性。这正表明，学校越来越意识到，有一些申请者在成绩单上搞小动作。一句话，风险自担吧。

偶是在N年前办的成绩单，因为觉得最后一学期的三门选修课（什么美食欣赏之类的，共4。5个学分）实在不重要又考得不好，就自己在成绩单里把这些课给删掉了。拿去给教务处盖章，也都顺利通过。

确实加上这些考得不好的小分数对总分也没啥大影响，可是又得跑去学校一趟，还得重新交钱，觉得好郁闷！
