一个老美告诉我说我最后的段落看上去表面我的观点模糊。T T 可是我觉得我的however以后也没有写太多啊。求“大师”指点。
The luxuries andconveniences of contemporary life prevent people from developing into trulystrong and independent individuals. Write a response inwhich you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statementand explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing andsupporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement mightor might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape yourposition. Thestatement above holds the belief that the development of truly strong andindependent personalities is heavily influenced or even prevented by theluxuries and conveniences of contemporary life. I do agree with this point. There’s an old famous Chinese saying goes like, ‘Children from poor families areheaded earlier.’ In other words, luxuries and conveniences make people become lazierand unwilling to learn. Ironically, nowadays in China, those rich secondgeneration and official lings enjoy the power and luxurious life their fathersprovide for them without shame. On October 16th, 2010, a 22-year-olddriver, who was intoxicated, knocked down two girls and tried to speed away.Security guards intercepted him, but he was undeterred. He warned them, “Myfather is Li Gang!” Li Gang was the local deputy police chief. One of the twogirls died the next day. This young man’s actions showed he was weak, barbaricand lacked of humanity, which came mostly from his powerful and luxuriousfamily background. In addition, with the rapid development of modernization, technology plays a more and more important role in our daily life, and thus peopleare becoming lazier and reluctant to think for themselves due to the heavyreliance on technology. Too much reliance on calculators will surly detrimentpeople’s calculating abilities. Sitting in front of computers all day whichmakes us easy to believe we no longer need to memorize things with suchconvenient access to the Internet, results the deterioration of the memory to acertain extent. This is not an exaggeration. A study conducted by Betsy Sparrowat Columbia suggests that when faced with difficult questions, people areprimed to think about computers and that when people expect to have futureaccess to information, they have lower rates of recall of the informationitself and enhanced recall instead of where to access it. Moreover, we now live in an environment whichis shaped by mass media. We seemingly lose ourselves with such easy access togreat amount of information. For example, the Internet offers us convenience, but on the other hand, so many people, especially children are losingthemselves by so addicted to it. However, the convenience of temporary lifesaves our time, and thus allows us to spend more time and efforts to deal withother things, such as participating in more activities and improving socialskills. Also the luxurious life provides opportunities for more people toapproach the high art, like opera which was only available to the royal familyin the past. This helps people get to a high level of strength andindependence. In a word, it’s true that the luxuries andconveniences of contemporary life make people lazier and reluctant to learn andgrow into truly strong and independent personalities. But at the same time, they save time for us and provide more chances for us to grow into mature menand women. 482 words |
