分词在句中一般作两种成分：

作定语：一般紧跟被修饰名词之后，强调动作的反复。这里注意一般会出现分词结构和定语从句的考题，定于从句强调的是一次性动作。分词强调的是重复性动作和过程。

作状语：一般放在句首或句末，放在句首表示分词动作发生在谓语动作之前，在句末作主句的伴随状语（不一定是主句谓语，一般优先修饰靠近的谓语动词），伴随谓语动作方式，动作本身或者动作结果。很少有分词作状语出现在句中用逗号隔开的情况。

如果现在分词前有介词或连词引导，如after,while,by等，则现在分词作状语。
