The content of the lecture contradicts the reading passage in evaluating fuel-cell engines and internal-combustion engines. Firstly, the professor argues that the hydrogen is not so easily available because of indirectly usage and the difficulty in producing and storing. This opposes the one given in the reading passage, saying the hydrogen is a more reliable choice when it's a renewable resource instead of infinite resource like petroleum. Secondly, the lecture points out that producing hydrogen always leads to crucial pollution since it requires a mass of energy from burning oil or coal. This is totally against the passage. The later states that hydrogen-based fuel cells are friendlier to the environment because the byproduct of it is water while burning oil releases carbon dioxide which harms the environment. It is obviously that the former casts doubts on the later. Thirdly, the claim of the professor raises the issue that the fuel-cell engines can not be economically competitive because the engine itself is very expensive. That refutes the contents of the reading passage that using fuel-cell engines will save more money. Therefore, the contents in the reading passage are totally denied by the professor and the speaker has totally different opinions on the topics made in the reading. |
