Hi John, If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a question: why not telling our names when calling the addmission officers? Does it matter? Whether detrimental to our application, I mean. -- by 会员 askwind (2010/12/2 16:46:11)
Of course! The only reason is that we spend SO much time crafting the perfect application. Every word is in exactly the right place, and we know EXACTLY what we are doing. Now, you call the adcom and say something that isn’t very well planned. “Hi, um, my name is Bob Smith, um, and I, um, cough cough, um, is it okay that I didn’t finish college, um, because well, I don’t know, I didn’t like it…” You get the idea. Just get the information, and get OUT of there. We are crafting your brand—no GOOD can come from giving your name to these people. Only bad. No adcom member would say, “Gosh, that was a REALLY good question. Lets give special attention to this kid.” But an adcom member MIGHT say, “Jeez, I remember this guy. He’s the one who called and asked about Kellogg, even though we are at HBS. Hm. Lets read his app, but he’s got a lot to answer for…
