Dr. Angel Cabrera to succeed Dr. Roy Herberger at world's No. 1 graduate school for global business |
On Monday, April 5th, Chairman of the Thunderbird Board of Trustees, John Berndt, will formally announce the appointment of Dr. Angel Cabrera as the new President of Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management. After an extensive executive search including interviews with alumni, students, faculty, staff and the Board, Cabrera was chosen to replace outgoing president, Dr. Roy Herberger, and will officially join the school in August 2004.
Dr. Cabrera is currently the Dean of Instituto de Empresa Graduate Business School in Madrid, ranked by the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and America Economia as one of the top 5 MBA programs in Europe. Cabrera is widely considered as one the world's most exciting young educators, and was recently chosen by the World Economic Forum as a "Global Leader for Tomorrow".
Cabrera holds Ph.D and M.S. degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar, as well as a Masters degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Madrid Polytechnical University. Dr. Cabrera is the first non-U.S. citizen to be selected to lead Thunderbird since its inception in 1946.
A native of Madrid, Angel is married to United States-born management professor Elizabeth Fraser and is the father of Alex and Emily.
