每个学校的特点可能不太一样，所以通过了解你的学校选择他们也能更好的了解你为什么要上MBA和对今后发展的想法，同时也能看出你的决定是不是经过思考的。另外一方面，也可以帮学校争取更多更好的学生吧。这是个人理解。

Here are several reasons that the school asks about this question.

They want to see if you are serious about MBA and their program. If you have chosen to apply all tier 1schools and their school is not one of them, they will know that you were using their school as a save choice. So it is unlikely for them to give you offer.

If the most of the schools you are choosing have lower requirements, they will think you are not confidence in yourself. If you only choose one or two schools, they will think you are not totally serious about MBA.

Also they want to get a vibe about what kinda school you are looking for.

我想这个问题不能简单回答还报了那几所，而要简单说下原因，原因要有理有据。
