What can I contribute to the program?

请问各位大侠，例如duke essay 3就有问到你是如何contribute and enhance整个program的特点的。
无从入手，能否给点写作思路？谢谢！

Be honest. I recently applied for a cross-cultural class where I had to write on the exact same topic. Instead of saying, "I will contribute my views as a Singaporean in the media" (both minorities at Wharton), I wrote, "the best thing I can contribute is my capacity to listen to others, and create an environment where people are free to speak out." I got into the class.

However, I could also have written something like, "I will share my views on being an Asian in America, who is not Asian-American but is frequently treated as such, by a world-power that had not been substantial colonial powers, but are getting closer to it now".

The point is, there is no right answer. They are not looking for anything in particular. Rather, they are looking for whether you have thought deeply about the answer and truly understand yourself.

They then make bad choices, thinking that since it's all 'bullshit', let's might as well get the 'right bullshit'- what's the right answer to this? what's the right answer to that?

Actually, the right answer is one that only you can know. I say this multiple times, and I know it could look like 'bullshit', because it seems so abstract and meaningless. "Of course, the right answer is one that only I can know," every thinks.. "Now give me the right answer!" they then think. And I think, "you've missed my point. I DID just give you the right answer."

If applying for business school was so easy, everyone would get in. Unfortunately most people think the difficult part is 'doing research' to understand 'what the right answer is'. Actually, it is FAR more difficult to know yourself, so that's what we look for.
