D 中的alternative hypothesis因该是不对的,但是为什么B就对了呢? 我觉得原文的重点是在最后 what is instead..., 但是B 没有体现这点.

B is paraphrase of the stimulus. It's something like this: "Modern science is xxxx. It's most rewarding to overthrow what most people accepted as science - that's why many scientists are trying to overthrow global warming hypothes. But amazingly very few of them have any luck despite hundreds of them trying so.". Don't you think choice B is exactly what the stimulus says?
