a b 选项中的which到底是指代的什么？每次做有关这种的题目比如前面加了个地点或时间，我都没办法判断后面的that或者which指代的是哪个该怎么判断呀？

which一般都是就近指代（除非后面有谓语动词单复数可以区别前面出现的名词）

D的 what it was a decade ago 罗嗦了（下降了将近3/4+时间状语a decade ago 简洁）

(A) as a method of the extraction of minerals, it was well established

(D) was a well-established method of extracting mineral that was
(E) had been a method of mineral extraction, well established

虽然答案不选d 而是c 可是d是不是错在that的修饰错误呢？

D中的that按形式上就是就近指代mineral of结构后面的关系代词也是就近指代的除非关系代词后面的谓语动词单复数表示指代of前的n.

extract有名词形式extraction，不该用它的动名词extracting

D中的that定语不太对 as early as the eighteenth century是个状语不能做mineral的定语
