In response to (很丢脸,我们国内大学的系里,有的老师都不知道uiuc),

why shouold know ?

UIUC sucks, wasted my 2 years, for a dirty cheap science master degree, very neagtive in my respect.   Ironically, the program ranked the 2nd place, my friends on that field still at school, even harder for postdoc.

that college likes to accept chinese students, abt 1000 ppl there

ppl know UIUC, because it is big and many science /engineering programs,

if someone studied accy (MSA program) or MSF (both 42k$ tuition for 1 year), 95% could not find job in the States within several months.

when I moved to another state, no one knows UIUC accounting or engineering rankings

To those who want to apply for US schools, selecting  your interested program is more important

if i am wrong, curse me. I and many of my friends said wasting time there.

这位同学不要激动.

此外,我们不是在讨论phd嘛....

可能我的意思没有说明白.我是想说我本科的老师,不知道uiuc的金融phd是很好很好的项目.

以下是引用baiquan在2008-3-29 11:40:00的发言:

UIUC Accounting maste 2 types: MSA and MAS, MAS for American. MSA for money and chinese pay for it.

in 2007 and beyond, (MSA program) or MSF (both 42k$ tuition for 1 year), 95% could not find job in the States within several months.

Well, most of my Chinese friends graduated (2007) from the MSA program have found jobs if they want to stay in US. According to my friends who will graduate this year, many of them have got offers either in NY or in CA. The job market at midwest has been very bad for international students recently, so most of them ended up seeking jobs at east coast or west coast. None of my friends work in Chicago area after graduation.

At the same time, I am surprised how easily undergraduate and MAS students can find a job here. Many of my students started their interns in the summer of the 2nd year, and many of them got offers in their juniors. It seems to me that they are not trying to find jobs after graduation, but choosing a decent job from big4 and other firms.

The job markets for US and non-US students are totally different because of language and visa issue. I guess this problem exists everywhere, not just in UIUC. Maybe my sample is not representative. Just provide some information I know.

For accounting (PhDs), there is a huge gap between supply and demand of PhD graduates, and therefore there is a "PhD Project" trying to attack the gap. You can check AAA's website for more detailed information. It's shocking that 53.4% of the current accounting professors are 55 or older. It also provides the statistics of shortage in each area (auditing, tax, financial...etc.).

I said some UIUC MAS and MSF people could not find job in the States within several months, not lifelong

I know 3 female (with MSA and MSF degree from UIUC) are living in orchard down, those who know uiuc well should know orchard down. these women cannot find job, so have to stay with their LaoGong, now pregnant or watch kids at home.

I and my wife are UIUC graduates, to give you one more example, those who move to NYC or CA, nearly find jobs within 4~6 months in 2007 and the coming 2008.

MSA & MSF stu cannot post their resumes on the college career website, due to non-citizen status.

if you think UIUC top, could u help them find a job? I believe they would be glad to pay you >>10k referral fee.

A lot of ppl (if aged > 27 with w/e) go for phd because of failure to find a job or  layoff, or being unhappy with his/her current job. Few are for phd title or research interest.

This board is for PhDs. I don't think the job discussion for Masters are relevant here. Please go to other board instead.

经济学上GSU 确实比EMORY 和GATECH强
我知道的一个GSU经济系FACULTY就是从EMORY的经济系跳到GSU来 原因不明
老外看的更实在 不跟中国人一样 牌子比实力看的重
