TOPIC 23 Should teenagers work while they are students? 

Nowadays, more and more teenagers confront the dilemma that they should foucus on their study completely or spend some time doing part-time jobs. Personally speaking, I am one of those who argue that teenagers should work while they are students.

The first and foremost reason is that doing part-time jobs is an access to some useful experience they will never gain from textbooks. For example, if a law student gets an internship in a big law firm, he or she will deal with various of real cases that he or she does not know at all, from which he or she may benefit a lot. In addition, working in a big company can make students stand out among other competitiors in the future. Take the situation in China for example., those big international companies will only hire those who have at least one year work experience.

Moreover, students can earn some money in their spare time. It is reported that teenagers are more likely to save the money they owned themselves rather than that given by their parents. Thus, it can form a good habit of saving money and spending money wisely.

The last but not the least, business people can offer students some help if it is necessary. For me, I have a dream to get a L.L.M degree in the U.S. Hence, some advice from a lawyer who has already studied there seem very important to me. Also, accommodation papers written by them will provide me a lot of help to get a scholarship in a university.

Take into accounts all these aspects, though part-time jobs may affect students’academic study, I still believe that teenagers should work while the are students.
