I know that the entrepreneurship research in China just start up and only several universities, such as NanKai U., Xi'an Jiaotong U., Tsinghua U.,and Zhejiang U. have attended this topic.

I am utterly CONFUSED when I see posts in the forum talking about U.S. business Ph.D. programs that rank 100-200 because only about108 universities, including UCSD and UCR, offer these programs. A100-110 ranking might make sense; however, those that are further down the road are virtually non-existent. I think most are fine for our purposes. Some of the following may be "mediocre" or little known in the EYES of Chinese students, but each has its own merits and strengths, notwithstanding:

Auburn Univ.
Baylor Univ.
Bentley Univ.
Georgia Southern Univ.
Illinois Institute of Technology
Portland State Univ.
Kent State Univ.
Cleveland State Univ.
Jackson Sate Univ.
UNC-Charlotte
UNC-Greensboro
Univ. of North Texas
Uiv. of Central Florida
Wayne State Univ.
Univ. of Wyoming
UTEP
UTPA
UMKC
UMST
St. Louis Univ.
Univ. of Memphis
Mississippi State Univ.
Univ. of Louisville
Southern Illinois Univ.
Oklahoma
Univ. of Alabama-Birmingham
New Mexico State
Morgan State

Do not be overly concerned about the rankings game because we are not applying for undergraduate or masters programs. I know a professor of finance who has a Ph.D. (or DBA) from Cleveland State Univ. (listed above), but he has published more than 80 journal articles, many in leading journals. Another professor has a Ph.D. from MIT. He is over 50 but is still an AP, because he has only some conference presentations to his name so far in his academic career.

You should be concern about the variance of the quality of such schools and the risk of spending 4-5 years without a job offer. The reputation of such less than mediocre schools would make you a joke among other peers when you claim yourself as a researcher.

All of those 3rd or 4th tier schools boasted that they have a decent program and a promising career for the students. What about the reality? One should be anxious to find it out unless they are dumb enough to believe a delusion.

Some of the programs in your list are actually not that bad, especially for those who are desperate to get a degree. However, as one who has studied in the States for long, I have to warn them that the future career is tough, even for business phds, unless they are really smart and hard-working.

The USNEWS has ceased to rank schools based on tiers. I do not quite understand what you wrote. How long have been in the U.S.?

There is no point to argue here... Doctoral programs have only weak correlation with US news rankings. Tripleg should consult better ranking agencies (such as peer faculty), and Newhorizon's remark is too absolute: Not all low-ranked schools are bad. At least 10 percent of them are ok.

By the way, US News ceased ranking under-prev undergraduate schools because those schools are not worth ranking. In the States undergraduates do not usually care about school ranking as long as the schools are approximately on the same level. But if those schools are not even ranked, one can usually tell that the prospects and quality of students are limited.

For doctoral students, it is a similar story. Reputation as well as capabilities and connection open doors to the job market. With other factors hold, I agree with K and others that top-20 ish programs are the ideal places to spend 5 years. Otherwise, one should still aim for top 100 schools, at least to "minimize unnecessary risks."

其实这个项目的主要问题不是排名不高.
