MBA+Science PhD, this combination is always considered a risky and bad investment by many people. Again, from business school side, this is becoming a new trend as well. I have heard thousands of times that getting a MBA immediatelly after Ph.D in science(whether you had working experience prior to Ph.D or not) is such a bad diea that few people could land a science/management job they had imagined before. Normally, only either the  h.D or the MBA is acknowledged by the employer. Even worse, they could end up in a situation that they are considered neither specialized in science(because they left science for business school) nor experienced in business (lacking of enough scientific management experience). That's why MBA is only valueable to science Ph.D who is having a job or had years' management experience. My question here for your fellow CDers, especially those current MBA students : Have you heard or known any full-time MBA with a science PhD background example? How do they after MBA? |
